Before getting started, ensure your child’s device meets the minimum requirements for Minecraft Education. The platform supports Windows, macOS, iPad, and Chromebook devices. For details, please review the System Requirements.
Visit the Minecraft Education website: Go to education.minecraft.net.
Click on “Download Minecraft”: At the top right of the page, click “Download Minecraft.”
Choose the Right Version: Select the download for your device (Windows, macOS, iPad, or Chromebook). For installation support, refer to Installation Support.
Download and Install: Follow the prompts to download the installer, then open the file to install Minecraft Education on the device.
Open Minecraft Education: Once installed, launch the app from the desktop or applications menu.
Log In: To access the app, enter the Microsoft account username and password provided to your child upon joining the Techie Tigers Club. Please note: This username is specifically for club use and is NOT the child’s school email address. Once logged in, Minecraft Education will open to the main menu.
Set Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): To enhance security, accessing Minecraft Education now requires MFA. This means that, in addition to password, Minecraft Education needs to verify the identity of the account the club provided to your child using a second method. While many use authenticator apps, we suggest a parent set up MFA using the parent's phone number or email address. This way, a verification code is sent directly to the parent, adding an extra layer of protection without the need for additional apps.
Here’s what that looks like every time your child logs in:
After entering their password, they'll be asked to verify their identity.
You (or your child) can choose to receive a code via email or text message.
They’ll enter the code sent to your chosen method to complete the login.
Help your child practice logging in and out of the app so they can independently access Minecraft Education when needed.
